Practice Makes Perfect....

I use my blog to get things off my chest. I am probably writing this for myself and Christy to see ( since I know she reads). I am just frustrated with something. My girls are playing U10 soccer and they have a very good team. During the fall league, we only lost 2 games (we went 8-2) and so for the spring they split the league in half with the top 8 teams playing each other and then the bottom 9 face off against each other. Well it was major reality check....we have been playing the best of the best. Our record at the end of *Spring* regular play is 4 losses, 2 wins, & 2 ties. This morning we played the number 3 seed. The coach had emailed me that it was going to be rough. Well surprise surprise....our girls played great. We scored 2 goals right off the bat and held them scoreless until the 4th quarter. Then they rallied and I think our girls were tired and they scored 2 to tie us. Here is my frustration: why as a coach would you not practice?( we haven't practiced in 3 weeks) Why as a coach would you not make positional changes during the game to best suit the team you are playing against? Why would you not teach your team basics like passing and the like when every other upper team has obviously learned that? I just don't get it. Yes, this is rec league, but still my girls have played soccer for FIVE years now and they are 10 years old and capable of enhancing their skills and really learning the game. Imagine if we did practice and they did play in the right *position*....we would probably have done even better. I told Greg that I just don't understand the coach. It would be like me saying..."oh well I have a performance coming up, but I will just show up the day of with no rehearsal!" Am I wrong? Maybe I just have way too high of expectations! I just believe in excellence no matter what and no it is not all about winning. It IS about playing your very best, having fun, & realizing a personal satisfaction that you grew as a player over the year! I am not sure that Madeline and Meredith will be able to say that with 100% conviction! As their mother, that is what makes me the saddest! :(

Like I said when we talked Friday, there is NO excuse for a coach that does not teach the girls how to better their game!! What is the point of playing soccer if you are not learning more skills and enhancing the ones you have?!?!

I think you should complain to the league when the season is over or at least write the coach and ask him why the girl's are not practicing!!

I don't know a thing about soccer...the only sport my girls have ever played was church basketball for a couple of years. But my understanding is that the coaches are volunteers? Somebody's parent that decided to be "coach"? So my guess is it's the luck of the draw...some parents are really excited and want to teach and see their kids learn and grow, while others are just "passing the time". Maybe I'm wrong, but I would talk to someone about why they aren't practicing...

Also, IT WAS GREAT TO FINALLY MEET YOU!!! We will have to find a time when we can actually talk, though. Today was a madhouse! But wasn't it good??

Hey girl!
The movie was really good. They downplayed a lot of the steamy scenes that were in the book. Obviously with a book you get more vivid detail and description. I considered this a pretty mild/moderate PG-13. However, I totally preferred the book over the movie, as usual. The movie didn't develop the characters or storylines as well. I think you should see the movie, but I think you'd REALLY love the book!

Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?

Can someone help me find it?

Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.

Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.

Thanks
